Pictures of Cats

Pictures of cats, typically striped and spotted tabbies, can often be seen depicted in ancient pictures from Egypt and Pompeii. The Egyptians even praised cats for supposed sacred magical qualities. This tradition remained so wrought in stone that during the middle ages the church, trying to abolish magic and bring everyone back on the path to God, persecuted not only cats but even their owners. This may very well have been the reason for the Bubonic Plague sweeping over Europe and Asia so swiftly in the middle of the XIV century as the result of a lacking feline population incapable of diminishing the amounts of rats spreading the illness while traversing the lands. But by the end of the XVIII century, the cats' reputation and usefulness in regulating the rodent population was back to its prime and felines once again took up their place near the fireplace, symbolising an ideal home pet.

However, an interest in cat shows only arose at the end of the XIX century. People started noticing the differences in cats' colours and patterns. With the discovery and development of genetic science, scientists began looking into creating new breeds and perfecting those already existent. Take a look at any cat - nowadays we have the power to change the shape of their heads, the colour of their eyes, the type of their fur and its colours and even permanently fortify some peculiarities! But whatever we might do with them, a cat will always remain a cat and nothing else. All for the better, after all, there's hardly a creature in the world worth more safekeeping than our feline pets serving as a flawless example of artistic genius. If they were to disappear, the world would surely grow less colourful.
